The History of the Legal Aid Office
Gellerupparken Legal Aid has been a permanent institution since January 1975, when we first opened in a ground-floor apartment at Dortesvej 1 in Gellerupparken, Section 4. Over the years, we have helped thousands of people—both locally and nationally—with their legal challenges.
Our journey began as part of Aarhus Legal Aid, but in 1977 we became an independent entity. A research project led by university lecturers from the Faculty of Law at Aarhus University laid the foundation for our establishment. The aim was to provide legal aid access in housing areas like ours, where such services are usually centralized in larger cities.
Each year, we receive around 5,000 inquiries from individuals seeking help to assess their case and legal options. Our experienced lawyers provide advice across all areas of law.
Our mission is to give a voice to those who feel wronged in their legal rights and to provide them with the opportunity to have their case reviewed by skilled legal professionals, helping them move forward with the support they need.
